As you probably already know, Goa is known for its beaches, but what good is a beach if its crowded just like any street in the city. The most famous beaches in Goa are - Arjuna beach, Baga beach, Calangute Beach, and these beaches are covered with tourists like swamps of bees on any ordinary day.
There are few beaches in north Goa; the not so famous destinations. Beaches like Morjim beach and Ashvem beach are the best place for the ones that prefer quieter atmosphere and own space. These beaches are mostly preferred by foreigners because of its silence and beaches like Baga and Arjuna are where most of the Indians flock to. Yes, this area is situated a little outskirt to where the main attractions are in Goa. Most importantly - No Hawkers, No Sellers! It is located at the northern most part of the state and in fact, it is close to the bordering Maharashtra. Goa is a very small state and it doesn't really matter where you stay, if you have your own ride. Every corner of the state can be reached with ease.
Beaches in northern Goa are more peaceful, the best places to be with yourself. Theses beaches doesn't come short with anything comparing to other beaches - they have shacks, restaurants, sun beds and almost everything that the most visited beaches in Goa have. The only thing Morjim and Ashvem beach lacks is, publicity among tourists, and this is what makes it special. The beaches are open round the clock and house some great beach shacks. You may not find much retail store or souvenir shops because they are located in the not so touristic centered areas.
