Visiting
a new place also comes with tasting new dishes. You might already
have one thing in mind about what to eat. Its the famous Hyderabadi
biriyani, something that Hyderabad holds the trademark to. Well
Hyderabad is not only about its Hyderabadi biriyani; just one
in its menu. Let me just start away with the biriyani.
1. Hyderabadi biriyani
You
probably knew about Hyderabadi biriyani and may have already added it
to your check list, but don't know where to have it from? The best place to
try Hyderabadi biriyani is at Hyderabad's famous restaurant chain –
Paradise food court. They have multiple branches around the city.
The branch that would be the best to dine, is the one near to Hussain
Sagar Lake. It is near to attractions like Lumbini Park, NTR gardens
and the massive lake itself. Read top 8 places to see in Hyderabad. You can head to the restaurant in
between the sight seeing tour without much effort. The restaurant is also
away from the bustling city. Hyderabadi biriyani's special blend of
masala and spices will take you to a different world.
2. Haleem
Haleem
is a stew composed of meat, lentils and pounded wheat made into a
thick paste. Veggie's need not feel broken, there is vegetarian
versions of the dish too. The dish traces back its origin to the
middle east. Haleem is widely found in Hyderabad during the holy
month of Ramadan, it doesn't mean that you cant find it during the
rest of the year. Haleem should be eaten at the place it is best
known for, and that is Hotel Shadab; located near to Charminar.
Read 5 things to do around Charminar.
3. Butter Cheese Dosa & Pizza Dosa
Yup,
you heard that right. A street side Food van called Ram ki Bandi
serves the best dosa in the city. They are really very generous
with the amount of butter & cheese that is being served on top of
your dosa - you wouldn't be able to eat anything for the rest of the
day. It is located in Nampally. The only down side is that, it is
open for business during odd hours (between 3 Am and 8 Am). It would
be best to hit this place for breakfast early in the morning.
4. Chicken Shawarma
Shawarma
is another fast food snack that originates from the Arab world.
Shawarma can be served on a plate or as a wrap. This is a pure
non-veg dish and no vegetarian dish can substitute this. Chicken Shawarma is best known from Mid-East Cafe which is located on
Golconda Fort Road.
5. Osmania Biscuits
Hyderabad
is also well known for its biscuits. It has a variety of indigenous biscuits, the most famous one is Osmania Biscuit. Flour, butter,
custard powder and Indian spices go into making these biscuits . The
best place to purchase Osmania biscuits is at Subhan bakery, which
also has a branch at Nampally.
6. Irani Chai
A meal is hard to end without a cup of tea. your trip to Hyderabad is
undoubtedly incomplete if you don’t sip this hot beverage. The
cafes at the bustling streets of Charminar is the best place to get a
cup of Irani chai, In fact you could sip it from Hotel shadab. The ingredients of Irani chai are pure milk, condensed milk and tea
leaves.
