This article is about how I got my phone repaired in 10 days by OneAssist under the Mi Protect plan. This post also gives an overall idea regarding the claim process.
I was confused and adamant in buying insurance for a new mobile because of all the negative reviews regarding OneAssist found online. Most of the reviews were about OneAssist taking more than two months to repair and return the mobile back to the customer. But then I felt, investing a couple extra bucks wont pain much when comparing to the money put for buying a handset worth 12,000 Rs. Without
much hesitation I decided to buy the MiProtect along with the Redmi
Note 3 I wanted to buy, because the plan just costs Rs 599/- for a year. The mobile phone got delivered in few days and activating the insurance plan wasn't hard. The only thing that bothered me was to get connected to the executive on the toll free number; it took multiple attempts and never ending waiting time.
Months passed by and I was having a very good time with the Redmi Note 3, until one day it fell from the first floor balcony to the ground. The phones display got a big crack and the top corner of the back panel got damaged. The mobile functioned normally even after the fall. That evening I contacted OneAssist to claim the MiProtect insurance on the phone. The call got connected instantly and the claim process was easy. Just had to upload few photos of the device and the invoice receipt of the mobile phone. The phone was collected from my door and it was fully repaired and returned in 10 days.

There are a lot of factors that decides the duration taken for repairing the mobile device. I was told by OneAssist that on average the process takes 15 to 25 days. The most important one is the service of the authorized service center - how fast they take to fix the device. This also depends on the location of the service center and the availability of spare parts. It took two months for my friend in Kochi to get a replacement adapter because the Mi service center didn't have stock, but for me it just took 15 minutes, in Chennai. The other factor is transit time. OneAssist does not provide pick up service for all the cities. In other cities the device will be picked up by third party pickup service or will have to be send by courier, thus will increase the time.
I am very much happy with the service from OneAssist and have decided to renew the Insurance for another year. Everyone may not have the same fate as I did, do let me know in the comments about you experience.
